Intrusive Thoughts Counseling

Therapy for Intrusive Thoughts

Intrusive thoughts are unwanted, distressing thoughts or images that seem to appear out of nowhere. They can be upsetting and may lead you to question yourself, your intentions, or your character.

The good news is that intrusive thoughts are far more common than people realize.

At Stephanie Booth Counseling, I help adults throughout Orlando, Oviedo, and Avalon Park understand intrusive thoughts and develop healthier ways of responding to them.

Common Experiences

  • Repetitive unwanted thoughts
  • Fear of what your thoughts mean about you
  • Difficulty letting go of certain worries
  • Mental replaying or analyzing thoughts
  • Seeking reassurance from others
  • Increased anxiety because of recurring thoughts

How Therapy Can Help

Therapy can help you:

  • Understand the nature of intrusive thoughts
  • Reduce fear and self-judgment
  • Decrease rumination and overthinking
  • Build healthier responses to unwanted thoughts
  • Improve emotional regulation
  • Increase confidence and peace of mind

You are not your thoughts, and having intrusive thoughts does not define who you are.
